Home Assistant has become an indispensable part of the smart home and smart building world, according to Jos Herrebrugh, CEO of Alphatronics. The open-source platform now runs on more than 2 million active installations worldwide, doubling its user base compared to last year. The development activity behind the platform is equally impressive. Home Assistant is the most active open-source project on GitHub, with more than 21,000 unique developers contributing to it over the past year.
“I have been following Home Assistant for years and am genuinely a fan of what this platform stands for,” says Herrebrugh. “Local control, open standards, and a community that decides for itself where the platform is heading. That is exactly the philosophy we embrace at Alphatronics with UNii.”
This vision is now being translated into a direct integration between UNii and Home Assistant. Users can leverage existing intrusion detectors to control lighting, automatically open curtains when a section goes into alarm, or create their own custom scenarios. The possibilities are virtually endless, and the integration is available free of charge through HACS.
“Many of our installers and end users are already working with Home Assistant,” says Herrebrugh. “By building an integration for it, we are connecting with a platform that is growing incredibly fast and one that we have been enthusiastic about for quite some time.”
